Agfa FarbenPlatten Autochromes of Lake Minnewaska in 1929-30

Another little gem, found on the hunt for clothing. 3 boxes of glass plate autochromes made at Lake Minnewaska New York. Autochrome photographs are the first version of color photography that was widely used. They have a beautiful quality that scans barely capture.

Birch trees along the edge of the lake. Minnewaska is a crystal clear lake with water too acidic for fish.

The cliff house on the left of the picture overlooking the lake is now gone. A fire destroyed it.

A rainbow over the lake with the Cliff House on the right.

1920 Silent Movie Lantern Slides

These slides were shown before and at the intermission during silent movies. They are glass plates with hand colored images. I found these among a large group of slides with films from 1919 to 21. So, these are most likely from the same period.

A series of cool Fitz Overalls Ad from Bushton Mercantile Company.

A gorgeous Edwardian hat ad.

A Coopers "Kenosha Klosed Krotch" union suit ad.

Here's one of the films, "The Last Outlaw" 1919, A short western by John Ford- from when he called himself Jack Ford. Only part of the film survives but it is the first film he cowrote and according to some critics, the first sign  of what was to come from this great director. The film follows an old bad ass cowboy and his encounter with the modern world, cars bicycles etc. Ford remade the film in 1936 with Harry Carey.

Several of the above slides are now offered by us on Ebay.

This is a film still from a probably now lost silent film in 19mm format.
I found a reel at a local flea market some years ago, it was inflammable cellulose nitrate stock and had begun to sweat picric acid. I tried several collections but no one wanted it because of the state it was in and I didn't have a safe way to store it. So it's now gone. I was able to print a frame from the beginning of the reel. If anyone thinks they may recognize the actor or film let me know!
